Mastercard Automatic Billing Updater

The ability to set up recurring or future payments is convenient in today’s fast-paced world. However, when your card is lost, stolen, or updated, your automatic, recurring or card-on-file payments risk being interrupted if merchants aren’t updated with your new card information.

For this reason, Mastercard requires all financial institutions that offer debit cards, to participate in the Mastercard Automatic Billing Updater Service (ABU). ABU automatically updates your card information with participating merchants who process recurring or automatic payments. This is so your automatic payments can continue without interruptions when you get a replacement debit card.

CNB understands that in some cases, you may wish to exclude your debit card from this program. If you choose to opt out, please email contactus@cnbtexas.com or call Customer Service at 877-566-2621.

A: No. Automatic Billing Updater is only available to participating merchants and participation in the service is at each merchant’s discretion. For this reason, it is still your responsibility to ensure merchants have the correct account information.

Q: How do I know what merchants I need to update?
A: Unfortunately, because merchant participation is at each merchant’s discretion, Mastercard does not provide a list of participating merchants. Therefore, we recommend contacting all merchants to confirm they have your new, updated card information.
